The Team Twisters athlete’s traveled to Long Island this past weekend for the 2012 Early State Championships. Lanna was the sole Twisters competitor in session one competing in the 7-8 year old division with 18 gymnasts and 9 other gym represented. Lanna scored a season high on vault with an 8.775 that was good enough for 9th place. In addition she earned a 9.175 on floor exercise and tied for the 8th place medal.

Twisters were represented by Mikayla, Irene, and Skyler in session two. Skyler and Mikayla competed in the 7-8 year old division with Skyler leading the way with a 36.950 all-around which placed her 6th out of 23 second year level 4 athletes. Skyler also earned the 2012 Level 4 State Championship title on uneven bars. She rounded out her top 10 finishes with a 7th place finish on vault (9.250) and tied for 9th place on floor exercise (9.275). Mikayla followed closely behind scoring a 36.025 for 11th place. Mikayla also earned 5th on vault (9.275) and 6th on balance beam (9.275). Irene competed in the 9-10 year old age division earning a high score of 9.150 on bars for 12th place.

The third session of the day rounded out competition for the level 5 athletes. Twisters was represented by Amber, Samantha, Sydney, and Hailey. Amber, competing in only her 2nd level 5 meet, led the all-around scores for the team with a 36.850 which put her in 9th place in the 9 year old age division out of 42 gymnasts. Amber also earned 4th place on uneven bars (9.375) and 5th place on balance beam (9.425). In the 10 year old division Hailey lead the way scoring a 36.225 for 8th place. Hailey also earned 7th on vault (9.075), 8th on uneven bars (9.325), and 9th on floor exercise (9.350). Following closely behind was Samantha scoring a 35.875 for 11th place. Samantha also placed 9th on uneven bars (8.900) and 11th on balance beam (9.125). Sydney was the final competitor in session three earning a 34.950 all-around. Sydney earned a 9th place medal on vault (9.075) and 12th place on uneven bars (8.800).

The final session the Twisters athlete’s competed in was the level 6 session on Sunday morning in which Kaitlyn was the sole competitor. Competing against 23 athletes, Kaitlyn placed 14th in the all-around with a score of 34.700. Kaitlyn’s high score came on balance beam where she earned 11th place with a 9.025.
